Dr Joel Fuerman, a NY Times best-selling author and nutritional researcher has for the past 25 years used a nutrient-dense, plant-rich diet including healthy omega 3 oils from nuts and seeds, to normalise high blood pressure, resolve type 2 diabetes and reverse heart disease (even in advanced cases).

He set up a research study with 2000 people who changed their diet to one rich in green and colourful nutrient-rich vegetables and fruits, beans and legumes, and the healthy omega 3 oils in the form of fish, nuts, seeds, and avocado.

He found that the patients experienced reduced LDL cholesterol, normalised blood pressure and lost weight. Importantly, the patients continued this lifestyle and stayed free of heart disease, kept their new weight many years after the study completed.

Complimentary to this, it turns out that it is also very important to take care of our mental health with a positive attitude.
New research from the University of Illinois found that people with upbeat, can-do attitudes were twice as likely to have ideal cardiovascular health. Optimists had significantly better blood sugar and total cholesterol levels than the more pessimistic participants.
